Volunteering on Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a Citi tradition. Instead of taking a day off, many Citi employees, family and friends make it a "day on" to keep Dr. King's legacy of service alive by helping those in need. Citi's Community Development team, African Heritage Networks and Volunteer Councils have organized a range of volunteer opportunities across the United States for Monday, Jan. 17. For example:
Our effort is part of a wider one led by the Corporation for National and Community Service making this holiday the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Citi and Citi Foundation are also proud to support CNCS's ongoing initiative, United We Serve, a national call to service now engaging more than 5 million Americans.
Encouraging the success of a community requires more than philanthropy. Through volunteer opportunities, our employees connect to their communities and develop the skills to become important agents of change. By celebrating and recognizing volunteerism, Citi hopes to inspire individuals in their communities.
