The UJA-Federation of New York honored Citi CEO Vikram Pandit with its Banking and Finance Award yesterday for his professional and philanthropic leadership. In accepting the award, Pandit commended UJA and its partner agencies for their efforts to help individuals and families through financial difficulties even as non-profits faced their own challenges.
"In New York and across the country, the recession impacted the lives of millions of Americans and put a tangible strain on both public and private social services agencies," he said in his speech. "UJA's response to the crisis has been nothing short of spectacular."
