Partnering with the White House on a New Outreach Program for Military Service Members By Kyung 'KC' Choi
Last week we announced Citi's latest initiative to support military service members. We are excited to collaborate with the White House in a new outreach program to help identify our service member clients who may qualify for financial services benefits under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA).

This program with the White House is the most recent component of Citi's ongoing commitment to support service members and their families, and the initiative will complement the special programs we offer for service members.

As a participant in this new program, Citi will:
  • Review the DMDC (Department of Defense Website) data each quarter against Citi's residential real estate loan portfolio to identify active duty service members.
  • Reach out to eligible active duty service members to inform them of their residential mortgage-related benefits under SCRA.
  • Participate in discussions designed to develop a standardized form to satisfy SCRA written notice requirement for active duty service members.

We expect to introduce the program to Citi customers in the first quarter of 2015.

In 2012, Citi launched its Military Response Unit, a centralized point of contact for service members to obtain benefits across product lines. In that same year, Citi introduced the Citi Military PCS (Permanent Change of Station) Transfer Assistance Program, a reduced-payment program for qualifying service members who have PCS orders. The company also offers the Citi Disabled Veterans Mortgage Relief Program, which allows veterans disabled in the line of duty to make reduced monthly payments on CitiMortgage-owned mortgages.

Citi Salutes focuses on connecting veteran consumers and job-seekers with access to Citi's entire range of services geared to the veteran community, including career opportunities, banking products, services, and counseling tailored to meet the unique needs of service members and their families, and partnerships with veterans' service organizations. Citi is a past recipient of the national level ESGR Freedom Award given by the Secretary of Defense and has been named one of the top military friendly companies by both GI Jobs Magazine and Military Times.
