Thanking Those Who Serve

November 11, 2014
Christopher Perkins, Global Head of OTC Clearing, Citi

Veterans Day is a reminder and an opportunity to thank our veterans for their service and to reflect on their tremendous courage and sacrifice.

More than 22 million veterans are living and working within the communities we serve in the United States - with many more across the globe. Citi is proud to support military members as they reintegrate into civilian life through our Citi Salutes initiative and other programs through which we strive to forge lasting relationships.

Hundreds of our colleagues and volunteers work to provide our veterans with professional development opportunities in financial services and to help them utilize in the business world the skills they've learned in uniform. And Citi's own Military Veterans Employee Network has expanded to 17 groups globally that include more than 2,500 employees.

Last week, Veterans on Wall Street hosted the fourth Veteran Employment Symposium and Resource Fair in New York. Citi has been instrumental in founding and growing Veterans on Wall Street, which now hosts more than 30 member firms from across the financial service industry, including our clients and vendors.

The U.S. Army also recently recognized our own Suni Harford, Regional Head of North America Markets, with the Outstanding Civilian Service Award. The award speaks not only to Suni's tireless efforts on behalf of veterans and servicemembers, but those of all Citi colleagues who have committed themselves to standing up for those who have stood up for us.

In addition, we are pleased to release our second e-book in collaboration with NBC Publishing, Operation Money: A Financial Guide for Military Service Members and Families, which aims to address the financial impacts of deployments and regular relocations and provide actionable financial advice for veterans and their families.

Citi is honored to salute our veterans and remember the sacrifices they have made on behalf of the United States and countries across the globe.
