By Ed Skyler, Executive Vice President for Public Affairs, Citi September 11, 2017 07:00 AM
The recovery from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey is only beginning, and we are now faced with the destruction caused by Hurricane Irma. In this challenging time and the weeks ahead, we’re focused on continuing to support those impacted by these storms in Texas, across the Caribbean and now in Florida.
The safety of our colleagues and their families remains paramount. We’ve been in regular contact with those in impacted areas across the Caribbean and now in Florida, sharing updates and providing support, and helping them with the continuity of service to our clients and customers.
Customers affected by Hurricane Irma in FEMA-designated disaster areas may be eligible to receive the following assistance with their Citi accounts:
- Automatic waiver or refund of late fees on credit cards;
- Automatic waiver of monthly service fees on Citibank deposit accounts;
- Automatic waiver or refund of late fees on personal loans and lines of credit;
- Deferred minimum payments on credit cards;
- Emergency credit line increases;
- Waived early withdrawal penalties on CDs and wire transfer fees;
- Waived late fees for September mortgage payments; and
- Mortgage payment forbearance programs.
Citi will continue to evaluate conditions and adjust programs as needed. We encourage clients with questions or concerns to contact customer service and we will help them with their individual needs. Customer service contact information can be found here or on Twitter via the @AskCiti handle. Customers can access their accounts 24/7 via Citibank Online and the Citi Mobile app to check balances, transfer funds, deposit checks or find the nearest ATM.
Our institutional businesses are prepared to serve clients by utilizing back-up locations in accordance with our continuity of operations planning to provide a seamless transition.
As we did with Hurricane Harvey, the Citi Foundation has donated $1 million to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Irma relief and recovery efforts. Our colleagues and clients are also showing their support and have donated $500,000 to the American Red Cross bringing the total generated to $2.5 million for these two storms.
We are also supporting Team Rubicon's mission of bringing the skills and experiences of military veterans together with first responders to deploy emergency response teams to communities impacted by these devastating storms.
The American Red Cross is accepting donations to support their work in providing shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance in response to disasters. Visit www.redcross.org, call 1-800-RED-CROSS, or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Citi ThankYou® Rewards members can also use their points to make a donation to the American Red Cross at www.thankyou.com. Contributions may also be sent to your local American Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C. 20013.
During this challenging time, we will continue to do everything we can to assist our colleagues and customers and help our communities recover.
