• Kindergarten to College: Placing Higher Education within Reach

By José Cisneros, San Francisco Treasurer and Bob Annibale, Global Director of Citi Inclusive Finance October 19, 2017 04:00 PM

One in three San Francisco children are born into families with almost no savings. However, when families save as little as $500 for higher education, their children are three times more likely to go to college.

Six years ago, we set out to do the inconceivable: collaborate to develop a platform to support a program that would enable every family in the San Francisco public school system to put money away for their children’s education. To achieve this goal, Citi collaborated with the City and County of San Francisco, and the San Francisco Unified School District, to launch Kindergarten to College (K2C) -- the first publicly funded, universal children’s savings account program in the United States.

  • A Conversation with Cities: Mayors on Closing Gaps in Infrastructure & Economic Opportunity

By Ed Skyler, Executive Vice President for Global Public Affairs, Citi and Chairman of the Citi Foundation October 16, 2017 01:00 PM

Citi estimates that $59 trillion will need to be spent on infrastructure globally over the next 15 years, a staggering figure that speaks to how much work needs to be done to shore up existing infrastructure and build additional capacity to keep up with urban growth. While the needs are immense, investment in infrastructure in the U.S. at the federal level has fallen to just 1.4% of GDP, and local governments are being challenged to meet the needs of their residents with increasingly limited resources.

By Michael Corbat, CEO, Citi October 10, 2017 11:00 AM

On Tuesday, October 3rd, I was proud to join hundreds of our colleagues to open the new public plaza in front of our global headquarters at 388 Greenwich Street in Lower Manhattan. We were honored to be joined by a color guard from the Marine Reserves during a stirring rendition of the National Anthem by a talented Citi colleague who was accompanied by the Stuyvesant High School choir. And we welcomed remarks from a number of community partners, business leaders and public officials, including New York City Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development Alicia Glen, New York State Assemblymember Deborah Glick and Chair of Community Board 1 Anthony Notaro.

  • Our Commitment to Women’s Economic Empowerment through a Diverse Supplier Network

By Javette Hines, Director, Supply Chain Development, Inclusion and Sustainability, Enterprise Supply Chain, Citi September 29, 2017 04:00 PM

The value of diversity to our business extends throughout our value chain, from our employees to our clients, our customers and our suppliers. Over the past several years, we’ve achieved significant progress in promoting diversity across our supplier base through initiatives led by Citi’s Supply Chain Development, Inclusion and Sustainability Program. However, we are continually looking for ways to increase diversity among our supplier base across the globe, and to help drive economic empowerment for women through our business activities and operations. Fortunately, Citi has a unique model that has kept supplier diversity and sustainability intrinsically linked for almost a decade. This integrated approach has helped to ensure that awareness, education and training in support of inclusion, human rights, and environmental sustainability remain firmly embedded in all of our sourcing efforts.

  • The Grace Hopper Conference; What is it and why is it important for Citi?

By Marilyn Lynnette McDonald, Director, Product Management Technical, Global Digital & Cloud Technology September 29, 2017 02:00 PM

The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (GHC) is a conference hosted by the Anita Borg Institute that annually draws more female technologists than any other such event in the world. This year, over 18,000 female technologists will come together in Orlando, Florida, to learn from and inspire each other, and draw inspiration from Grace Hopper, a pioneering American computer technologist and United States Navy Rear Admiral. Citi first engaged with the GHC conference in 2016, and this year we’ve expanded our presence with nearly 100 attendees from seven different areas of the company. We will also have a prominent presence in the career fair area, and look forward to meeting with potential recruits at all career levels.

  • Progress Driven By Diversity – Citi and UN Women

By Yolande Piazza, CEO of Citi FinTech September 28, 2017 09:00 AM

As the head of Citi FinTech, I’m often asked about the role of women in leadership and innovation. My answer is often the same, which is that when I arrive at our office every day, I’m surrounded and inspired by a diverse team of change-makers. Our team members come from 5 continents and backgrounds that span the range of banking and technology companies. Half of my leadership team are women and half of Citi FinTech’s workforce are millennials. I’m proud of our diversity, not just because the statistics demonstrate the authenticity of our commitment, but also because of the impact these individuals have had collectively on the way we work and the results we deliver. The blend of experiences and inclusive culture have been critical to our success and make me proud to work at Citi.
